TMJ & Jaw Pain

Does your jaw click, ache or lock? Do you clench or grind your teeth? These can be signs of TMJ dysfunction, a problem with the temporomandibular joint that connects your jaw to your skull.

Common signs of TMJ dysfunction

  • Jaw pain or aching, especially when chewing
  • Clicking, popping or grating when you open your mouth
  • A jaw that locks or doesn’t open fully
  • Clenching or grinding your teeth
  • Face or ear-area pain linked to jaw tension

How we can help

Two of our chiropractors have a special interest in TMJ (jaw) problems. Tom Scourfield DC MSc uses gentle Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), cranial work and facial release, looking at your jaw, neck and posture together. Krzys Klinowski MChiro combines chiropractic care with advanced soft tissue techniques and rehabilitation.

What to expect

Your first visit includes a full assessment of your jaw, neck and posture. Your chiropractor will explain what they find and, if appropriate, begin treatment the same day. Where helpful, they may also suggest you see your dentist.

If you have sudden severe jaw pain, swelling or difficulty swallowing, please see your GP or dentist promptly.
