What to Expect

During your initial consultation your chiropractor will take a full history from you about your health and discuss your reasons for seeking chiropractic care. You will be asked about the pain or complaint that may have brought you to us, your past health, diet and lifestyle.

You will then undergo a thorough examination concentrating on your neuromusculoskeletal system (nerves, muscles and joints). It may also be necessary to examine other systems such as your heart, lungs and abdomen to rule out other causes. Gowns will be made available to you to wear during the examination, as well as any following treatments.

If necessary the chiropractor may refer you for further tests such as x-rays, MRI, CT or blood tests. If chiropractic care is not suitable for your complaint you will be referred to your GP or the appropriate specialist.

Before treatment commences, your chiropractor will explain what is wrong with you, what can be done about it and what you should expect during treatment. They will also outline how many treatments you require and inform you of any exercises or changes to your diet and lifestyle which may be beneficial.
